The An-225 “Mriya” was more than the most giant plane in the world. It was a symbol of Ukrainian strength, perseverance, and pride. This majestic aircraft soared through the skies for decades, carrying massive payloads and making history. And when Russia attacked it in February 2022, our hearts broke.

In the 80s, the Antonov Design Bureau poured their hearts and souls into creating this incredible machine. The An-225 was a true engineering marvel, with an impressive wingspan and the ability to carry a payload of up to 250 metric tons. It was a testament to what Ukraine could achieve when we put our minds to it.

The An-225 wasn’t just a technological achievement. It was a national symbol, a beacon of hope that reminded us that anything was possible. It inspired us to dream big and never give up, despite seemingly insurmountable challenges.

The Day Ukraine’s Dreams Were Attacked

When on 24 February 2022, Russia attacked the Antonov plant and damaged “Mriya,” it felt like an attack on our very identity. Ukrainians were devastated but refused to give up, being convinced of the victory over Russia and the rebuilding of the “Mriya.” Because we never give up on our dreams.

As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, “Russia may have destroyed our “Mriya.” But they will never be able to destroy our dream of a strong, free, and democratic European state. We shall prevail!” And we will. The cost of “Mriya’s” restoration is estimated at around $3 billion and should be paid by Russia.
